Nothing has been deleted and your partner connection isn't broken. Everything in Cupla is stored against your account, not on your phone. If your new phone shows an empty app with no partner, no shared events and no to-dos, you have signed in to a brand new account instead of your original one.
Do not send your partner a new invite or try to reconnect. Your partner is still connected to your original account, so an invite sent from this new one will fail. Re-inviting also creates more accounts and makes things harder to untangle.
Getting back in comes down to one thing: signing in with the exact method your original account uses. Signing up with email and then signing back in with Apple or Google, or the other way round, opens a fresh empty account every time.
Step 1: Find out which method your original account uses
Your partner's app can tell you, and this is the quickest way to be sure.
Your partner taps the menu icon (☰) in their Cupla app.
They tap your name or profile circle.
They read what is shown on your profile. On an iPhone it is under Login, on Android it is the Email field.
If an address is shown there, that is the address your account uses. If you signed up with Google or Apple, it is the address on that Google or Apple account.
If that section is blank, do not keep trying sign-in methods. Message our support team from the app and we will get you back in.
Step 2: Log out of the empty account
Tap the menu icon (☰). Depending on your app version it is in the top-left corner of the Home screen or the bottom-right corner of the tab bar.
Tap Me (your profile).
Scroll to the bottom and tap Log Out.
You should now be back at the Cupla sign-in screen.
Step 3: Sign back in with that method
Tap I already have an account, not Get started. Get started refuses an address that is already in use, and it is what most people tap by mistake.
If your account uses Google or Apple, tap that button and pick the account with the address from Step 1. If you have more than one Google account, it is often not the one you use every day.
If it uses email, tap Continue with E-mail and type that exact address. The code goes to whichever address you type, so an address your account has never used opens another empty account rather than telling you it is wrong.
If you set up a passkey, tap Continue with Passkey. Passkeys sync to every device signed in to the same iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, so one set up on your old phone is usually available on the new one.
If the address on your profile is one you have never used yourself, Apple created it for you when you signed up, and your account uses Sign in with Apple. Do not try to send a code to it, because you cannot read that mailbox. Tap Sign in with Apple and choose the same Apple ID your phone uses for the App Store. Your everyday email address will not reach that account.
Once you are back in, your partner connection, shared events, to-dos and subscription will appear on their own. It can take a minute or two to sync.
Still can't see your partner?
If none of the methods you recognise get you in, or your partner's app shows no address on your profile, message our support team from the app and we will put your login back on your original account.
If your partner's app shows the two of you as connected while yours does not, see We look connected on my partner's app, but not on mine.
