I've lost access to my account or sign-in method

What to do if you can no longer sign in to Cupla because you have lost access to the email address, Apple ID, Google, or Facebook account you used to sign up.

If you can no longer sign in to Cupla because you have lost access to the email address, Apple ID, Google account, or Facebook account you originally used, here is what to try.

Step 1: Try each sign-in method

Cupla supports several sign-in methods. If you are unsure which one you used, try each of the following on the login screen:

On Android, try each method once. If a method signs you in to an empty app rather than your own account, stop there and go to Step 3. On Android, signing in with an address we have not seen before can create a new blank account rather than open your existing one, so working through more options makes it harder to sort out, not easier.

  • Email – Enter the email address you think you used and follow the prompts.

  • Apple – Note that Apple may have created a private relay address for your account. Cupla cannot confirm the exact address Apple used, so it is worth trying even if you are not sure.

  • Google or Facebook – Tap the relevant option and sign in with those credentials.

  • Passkey – If you previously set up a Passkey on this device, tap Continue with Passkey and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your PIN.

Step 2: Ask your partner to send you a login link (iPhone only)

If you are connected to a partner in Cupla and still cannot sign in, your partner can send you a login link directly from their app. This will get you back into the correct account without needing to know your original sign-in details.

This one is iPhone only. Sending a login link is available in the Cupla app on iPhone, and only when your account already has an email address on it. If your partner is on Android, or they cannot see the option, skip to Step 3 and message us: we can put your login back on your account ourselves.

Ask your partner to follow these steps:

  1. Tap the menu icon (☰). Depending on your app version, it will appear either in the top-left corner of the Home screen or in the bottom-right corner of the tab bar.

  2. Tap your name or profile circle.

  3. Tap Share login link with [Your name].

  4. Send the link via your preferred messaging app.

Open the link on your phone with the Cupla app installed and it will log you straight in.

Step 3: Contact support

If you do not have a partner connected, or the steps above have not worked, please message our support team from the Cupla app and we will help you recover access.

Prevent this happening again

Once you are back in, we recommend setting up a Passkey as a backup login method. Passkeys are stored securely on your device and do not rely on a third-party account.

To set one up: tap the menu icon (☰) > Me > Create a Passkey.
