Planning a surprise date for your partner is one of those small joys that's hard to pull off when you're using a shared calendar — anything you add is usually visible to them too. Cupla doesn't have a dedicated "surprise date" feature, but you can use Cupla's privacy controls to plan one without spoiling it.
How to plan a surprise date
The simplest approach is to plan the date on one of your own calendars, with privacy set so your partner only sees that you're busy.
Create an event on a personal calendar that's synced to Cupla — for example, your personal Google, Outlook, or Apple calendar.
Make sure that calendar is set so your partner sees the event as busy only, with no details. See How do I change my events from displaying to my partner as busy?
Block the time on your calendar so your partner knows you're not free, but doesn't see what for.
Your partner will see that you've got something on, but won't know what it is — letting you keep the surprise.
Other ways to plan in secret
A few other features that come in handy when planning a surprise:
Private Wishlist items: Save date ideas, restaurants, or gift ideas in your Wishlists and mark individual items as private so your partner doesn't see them. See What are Cupla's features? for an overview of Wishlists.
Private to-dos: Use a personal to-do list (rather than a shared one) for any planning tasks — booking, ordering, organising — so your partner doesn't see them.
Sharing the date once the surprise is over
Once you've revealed the surprise, you can turn the event into a proper shared date in Cupla by tagging it as a date so it counts towards your Date Frequency Goal. See How do I create a shared event or date?
