Cupla uses three main colours — one each for You, Me, and Us — and we're often asked why. The short answer: it's a deliberate design choice that helps Cupla stay fast to read at a glance and easy to understand.
Why three colours
Cupla is designed to be glanceable. When you open the calendar, you should be able to tell what's going on in your shared life in a couple of seconds, without studying it. Three colours make that possible:
You — the events and items that belong to your partner.
Me — the ones that belong to you.
Us — anything shared between you both.
The moment you add a fourth colour, then a fifth, the calendar starts to feel busier and the at-a-glance read of "who is this for?" gets harder. By keeping the core view to three colours, the most important information stays instant: this is mine, this is yours, this is ours.
When you want more granularity
If you want to colour-code beyond You, Me, and Us — for example to separate work from personal, or to group events for a child, a pet, or a particular project — Cupla has tags for that. Tags let you label events, to-dos, and list items with your own custom names and colours, and they're shared between you and your partner so you only need to set them up once.
See How do I use tags? for how to create and apply tags.
